Un imperativo es una orden, instrucción o petición. Es algo que impera o manda hacer algo (exigencia u obligación). Son simples palabras o frases que indican a alguien que haga algo.

High Alto Having a great vertical extent. The building is very high.
Great Genial / Estupendo Something that is very good or impressive. We had a great time at the party.
Delicious Delicioso Having a very pleasant taste or flavor. The cake she baked was delicious.
Well Bien In a good or satisfactory manner. She sings well.
Uphill Cuesta arriba A slope that goes upward. The hike was tough because we had to go uphill.
Really Realmente Used to emphasize a statement or opinion. I really like this song.
Anyway De todas formas / De todos modos Used to indicate a change of subject or to return to a previous topic. Anyway, let's get back to the main point.
Imperative Imperativo A grammatical mood used to give commands or make requests. "Sit down" is an imperative sentence.
Imperative form Forma imperativa The form of a verb used to give commands or instructions. "Close the door" is in the imperative form.
Object pronouns Pronombres de objeto Pronouns that receive the action of the verb in a sentence. In "She sees him," "him" is an object pronoun.
Turn (off/on) Apagar / Encender To switch something off or on. Please turn off the lights when you leave.
Water ski Esquiar en el agua A sport where a person is pulled behind a boat while standing on skis. He loves to water ski during the summer.
Take off Despegar When an aircraft leaves the ground and begins to fly. The plane will take off in a few minutes.
Can (auxiliary verb) Poder (verbo auxiliar) Used to express ability, possibility, or permission. She can swim very well.
Climb Escalar To go up or ascend, especially using the hands and feet. They will climb the mountain tomorrow.
Find Encontrar To locate or discover something. I need to find my keys.
Fish Pescar To catch fish, typically for food or sport. He likes to fish on weekends.
Hike Caminar / Hacer senderismo To take a long walk, especially in nature. We will hike in the mountains this weekend.
Ice skate Patinar sobre hielo To glide on ice using ice skates. They love to ice skate in the winter.
Jump Saltar To push oneself off the ground and into the air using the legs. The kids love to jump on the trampoline.
Put (on) Ponerse To place clothing or accessories on one's body. She will put on her jacket before going outside.
Ride Montar To sit on and control the movement of an animal or vehicle. He likes to ride his bike in the park.

Sail Navegar To travel on water in a boat or ship. They will sail across the lake this afternoon.

Erarrings Aretes / Pendientes Decorative items worn on the ears. She bought new earrings for the party.
Future Futuro The time that is yet to come. She is excited about her future plans.
Grass Césped / Hierba A green plant that covers the ground in lawns and fields. The children played on the grass in the park.
Horse Caballo A large domesticated animal used for riding and work. She loves to ride her horse on weekends.
Ice Hielo Frozen water. The lake is covered with ice in the winter.
Instructions Instrucciones Directions or guidelines on how to do something. The teacher gave clear instructions for the assignment.
Instruments Instrumentos Tools or devices used to perform specific tasks, especially in music. He plays several musical instruments.
Language Idioma / Lengua A system of communication used by a particular community or country. English is a widely spoken language.
Light Luz The natural agent that makes things visible. The room is filled with light from the windows.
Mountains Montañas Large natural elevations of the earth's surface. They went hiking in the mountains last summer.
Projector Proyector A device that projects images or videos onto a surface. The teacher used a projector for the presentation.
Swimming pool Piscina A large container filled with water for swimming. They spent the afternoon at the swimming pool.

Imperatives

An imperative sentence is simply a order, instruction, or request.

  1. Close the door.
  2. Sit down.
  3. Turn off the lights.
  4. Listen carefully.
  5. Listen to me.
  6. Come here.
  7. Go there.
  8. Don't touch that.
  9. Don't be late.
  10. Don't forget your homework.

Object pronouns in imperatives

When using object pronouns in imperative sentences, the pronoun is typically placed after the verb. Here are some examples:

  1. Help me with this task.
  2. Call him later.
  3. Tell her the news.
  4. Show us the way.
  5. Give them the instructions.
  6. Don't bother me right now.
  7. Don't tell him the secret.
  8. Don't ask her for help.
  9. Don't show us your work yet.
  10. I call her.

An object pronoun is used to replace a noun (receiving the action or the effect).

The verb "can" is used to express ability, possibility, or permission. Here are some examples about ability:

  7. What can we do to improve?
