Vamos a estudiar cómo presentarnos en inglés. Aprenderás a decir tu nombre completo, cómo deletrearlo y a preguntar el nombre de otra persona. También aprenderás a decir tu edad y a preguntar la edad de alguien más. El siguiente vocabulario es esencial y te ayudará a comunicarte en situaciones básicas.

Recuerda que el principal objetivo en estos niveles es entender lo que leemos, no tanto hablar o escribir.

Information questions

Known as "Wh- questions", these are questions that begin with words like "What," "Who," "Where," "When," "Why," and "How." They are used to gather specific information.

Also named "Open questions," because they require more than a simple "yes" or "no" answer. They have a variety of possible responses.

  1. What? - Used to ask for information about something.
  2. Who? - Used to ask about a person or people.
  3. Where? - Used to ask about a place or location.
  4. When? - Used to ask about a time or date.
  5. Why? - Used to ask for a reason or explanation.
  6. How? - Used to ask about the manner or way something is done.
  7. Which? - Used to ask about a choice or selection from a known set of options.
  8. Whose? - Used to ask about ownership or possession.

Example:

  • Question: Who is your best friend?
  • Answer: My best friend is Sarah.

Yes/No questions

Known as "Closed questions". They are used to confirm or deny information.

Example:

  • Question: Are you a student?
  • Answer: Yes, I am a student.

Who/What questions

Used to ask for specific information about people or things. What is used for things or animals, and Who is used for people.

Example:

  • Question: What is your name?

  • Answer: My name is Italo.

  • Question: Who is your teacher?

  • Answer: My teacher is Mr. Smith.

In the next section, you will find simple dialogues that incorporate the Wh- questions along with the verb "to be".
